The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, in new French oak barrels, where it remains for over 18 months in contact with its fine lees before being blended and bottled. The wine is further refined for at least 9 months in the bottle.

Tasting

Ruby mantle faded at the edges. Refined nose, it lets out intoxicating aromas of wild fruits, marine scrub, noble vegetal sensations, resin and floral potpourri. Vigorous mouth, full of pure olfactory references and a silky texture tannin. Sapid gloss to herald very long persistence on the tongue.

Limited production of 6,000 bottles.
Bottle format: 0.75 l and Magnum.

Service

Serve at 16-18 ° C.

the Cabernet Franc

It is one of the most famous and widespread red grape varieties in the world. Originally from the Iberian side of the Pyrenees and then arrives in Gironde,
the French province of Bordeaux where it gives life to important wines.

It has been cultivated in Italy since the 19th century and has found its natural habitat in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where it is vinified in purity.
Recently, it is also cultivated in Tuscany and Puglia with excellent results.

From the name of the grape we can guess its main characteristic, a frank wine with a unique and unmistakable aroma.

Cabernet Franc has found an ideal setting in our Terroir with a particularly balanced maturation between sugar content and polyphenols.

"Masses of chocolate and cassis. Juicy and modern and international with a Napa-like sheen and gleam to the tannins."

"At these levels of maximum concentration, soft-tannic suppleness and almost perfect executive oenological integrity, Cabernet Franc is an absolute sensorial pleasure. First of all visual given the inviolate power of chroma which makes it so bluish. The blackberry that permeates it and infuses it with aroma is not only clean as before, but stainless has the expressive-impressive sap of when still new. Analytical and sensorial virtues that permanently qualify it among the best Italian reds ever. Hats off to the high-level viticulture and oenology that obviously underlies its marvelous profile."

"Among the best Italian reds, Don José Cabernet Franc Doc Maremma Toscana 2020 is confirmed: maximum its density, great soft-tannic palatal souplesse, inviolate, stainless and still chlorophyll, its wonderful first fruit. Chapeau."

Hints of vanilla, but the pretty cabernet franc character comes through. Drink or hold.

DON JOSE' CABERNET FRANC - D.O.C. MAREMMA TOSCANA Vintage 2019 - Score 92
"Very true to the character of this robust and heat-loving grape, the Pepi Lignana Fattoria il Casalone 2019 Maremma Toscana Cabernet Franc Don Jose is a full-bodied wine with thick lines and ample power to accompany a main course of grilled meat and fried potatoes. The wine carries its fruit weight well without feeling too heavy or bogged down. The aromas are focused on black and purple fruits combined with mineral notes such as shaved pencil or river stone. You might even pick up a piquant note of pecorino cheese rind."
